I have been interested in renewable forms of energy for as
long as I can remember, mostly because I grew up in a solar heated home. I have been waiting for the day when
producing solar electricity for my home would be a viable alternative to the
never ending battle with rising electricity costs. Up to this point there really hasn’t been a
way to make economic sense of making the switch. Yes there are many environmental reasons to
produce your own electricity through the use of solar panels but for a family
on a budget there really is no way to do it.
T. Boone Pickens has come out with a plan to reduce our dependence
on foreign oil through the use of wind generation, but I am not sure the plan
is aggressive enough to make the impact that I wish it would. I wish that Mr. Pickens plan would lead this
country into a brighter future where we generate all of our electricity with
renewable resources but I just don’t think his plan is there yet.
Mr. Pickens plan comes at the right time and is a start down
the right path, but his plan relies on too many pieces falling into place to
work as well as he believes it will.
Trusting that a natural gas infrastructure will be built and that people
will want natural gas cars is a reach from where I stand. Then relying on GM to actually manufacture
the cars if there is a demand is putting way to much trust in a corporation
that cares very little about the welfare of this country or our environment.
Take a look at Mr. Pickens
plan and help this country take the necessary steps to produce its energy
with renewable resources. I hope Mr.
Pickens will be the catalyst that this country needs to put the right plans
into place.
