Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be
Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. - Genesis 17:5
(KJV).
When my mother went into labor with me, she had toxemia. She had convulsions on the delivery table. My Mom and I almost died.
In the quietness of her hospital room, after the delivery, she heard
God speak to her as clear as day. He said, "Her name is Annagail."
I believe that our names are a roadmap for our lives. A roadmap to who we are supposed to be.
In my name, for instance, Anna means Grace, Gracious, Mericiful and Gail means Joy Of The Father, My father’s joy.
When God changed Abram's name to Abraham, He changed the direction of Abraham's life.
Now he was Abraham--father of many nations.
Every time his friends and family called him Abraham, they were calling him the father of many nations.
The more he heard his name and the more he spoke his name, the more he
believed that he was the father of many nations. He could then see it
in his heart.
Whatever the dream we have from God, we need to speak it until we
believe it. Speak it until we see it in our hearts. Then like
Abraham, we will receive what God promised us.
