The Titans wasted no time this off season scooping up the well known former Falcon Alge Crumpler after he was cut. Crumpler adds a nice element to the Titans passing game as many think Young will utilize Crumpler in the same fashion that Michael Vick used to before he exchanged #7 for #2345678. Crumpler should help the anemic passing attack of the Titans and perhaps make them a more well rounded team. I have never been a huge fan of Vince Young's but much of his failures last year can be blamed on his injuries, the most major, his quad injury which seemed to linger almost the second half of the season. Titans fans are hoping Young will perform more like 2 years ago. If he does and the defense continues to improve as it did last season, there's a good chance the Titans are right back into the playoffs again.
The Titans will be drafting out of the #24 slot in this year's NFL Draft. Limas Sweed, a receiver coming out of Texas who actually won a national championship with Vince Young as a teamate, looks as close to a lock to be their #1 pick as nearly any other pick in this round. Sweed and Crumpler should make things much more comfortable for Vince Young when he drops back to pass next season.
Fantasy Top 5
1. Vince Young QB- Despite his struggles his ability to score and accrue yardage running as well as throwing make him more valauble in many fantasy leagues. I personally would never start Young on my team but usually he goes pretty fast once the upper echelon quarterbacks are off the board.
2. Lendale White RB- Another fantasy player I don't want on my team but its hard to ignore his 1100+ yards and 7 touchdowns. Not spectacular, but also not bad for a back who's splitting time.
3. Alge Crumpler TE- Alge, like most of the Falcons, had a down year last season. I don't expect him to recover back to being a top tier tight end, but I definitely see a jump in his numbers back to his norm depending on the chemistry between him and Young.
4. Chris Brown RB- Chris Brown is a tough back to start unless White goes down to injury. He scored 5 touchdowns last year but couldn't even surpass 450 yards on the ground. Perhaps pick him up if you have White and want some insurance.
5. Tennessee Titans Defense- I don't feel that this unit is very strong, however I also don't see much fantasy value on this team. The Titans were a much improved unit last season as they ranked 8th best in points allowed and even higher in a few categories.
