The Texans showed some intelligence by getting Matt Schaub off the free agent market last year.  Schaub and Andre Johnson proved to be a great team when both were healthy and should be a nice core for the Texans to build off of despite some other holes.  I still think it was a ridiculous mistake to pass on Reggie Bush and Vince Young in order to draft Mario Williams.  While Williams had a great year last year, it was still a huge error as Young and Bush are making a much bigger difference on the field and putting seats in the stands.  I really felt like the Texans passed on Bush because he was going to be a very expensive draft pick but we'll probably never know the full truth there.

With the Texans decent 8-8 season also comes the #18 pick in this upcoming NFL Draft.  The Texans have some weaknesses at cornerback, defensive end, and at left tackle, however I agree with the majority of draft experts that has them taking Rashard Mendenhall, the rough running back coming out of the University of Illinois.  Mendenhall is a tough runner and will help round out the Texans offense as last year as Ron Dayne and Ahman Green didn't quite cut it.  On top of that Dayne is a free agent so I could see Mendenhall starting week one for them.  I think the Texan address their other issues later in the draft as they've already passed up one great running back and can't afford to pass up too many others.

Fantasy Top 5
1.  Andre Johnson WR-  8 touchdowns and 850+ yards isn't the stellar year you expect from this dominating receiver however after you see he missed almost half of last season to injury, its clear he's the major scoring threat and playmaker.
2.  Matt Schaub QB- Injuries greatly hampered his year, not only Schaub's but also to Schaub's main target Johnson.  He however performed diligently and showed a lot of poise last year when he was healthy.  His stats weren't the greatest but he is a start many fantasy weeks depending on his match up.  I'd love to have Schaub as my  #2 or #2 QB on my depth chart.
3.  Owen Daniels TE-  Daniels only score three touchdowns but very quietly almost led the team in receptions with 63 and was nearing breaking 800 receiving yards.  A definite sleeper with a lot of potential.
4.  Rashard Mendenhall RB-  Its hard to say if he will be the starter or splitting time with 1 or 2 others, but omce he gets some consistant playing time I'd start considering getting him off your bench and into your line up.  He should be available relatively late and would be a nice catch in keeper leagues if he snags the starting role.
5.  Ron Dayne RB- His 6 touchdowns last year were very mediocre but if they add Mendenhall I see them on the goal line a bit more than last year.  Dayne might lose carries to the youngster but I believe will be their short yardage and goal line back perhaps leading to a nice vulterous relationship for Dayne's fantasy owners.
