After having a Mangenius year a few years ago, Belichek's former coach came somewhat down to earth this last year as his Jets fell to 4-12 securing the 6th draft pick in this upcoming NFL Draft. Very ironically, a week 17 meaningless victory over over the Chiefs will most likely put star runing back Darren McFadden out of their reach. One of their biggest issues last year was the questionable aquisition of Thomas Jones who subsequently had a very hard time gaining many yards on the ground. On a good note, the Jets have a great talent waiting in the wings in young running back in Leon Washington who actually had a much better yards per carry average (5.0 vs. 3.6). Washington also showed his explosiveness when returning punts and kick returns. If not for the human highlight reel of Devin Hester, Leon Washington would have been catching national headlines for his returns (3 returns for touchdowns). These Jets have a decent team to have a good chance of a better year next season. The question mark that hurts them the most is quarterback Kellen Clemens, who showed some talent and ability, but I'm not sure he's an every day quarterback in the NFL.
Draft experts are split on the Jets pick, but depending who's remaining, it looks like the experts see the Jets going with defense either drafting Chris Long (DE Viginia), Sedrick Ellis (DT USC), or Vernon Gholston (DE Ohio State). All three would be a good addition to the defense and there's a good chance at least 2 of them will be available when the Jets get to make their pick. I am surprised not one expert thought the Jets might reach and take quarterback Brian Brohm out of Louisville. Yes he is no guarantee of Brohm being a great quarterback but I think it wouldn't be a terrible thing to have some competition between Clemens, Brohm and even Pennington who I'm sure will try to make another comeback. If the Jets can get things together a little bit we might again start calling Eric Mangini, the Mangenius, if not I think his days are numbered with the Jets.

Fantasy Top 5
1. Laveranues Coles WR- Coles had the injury bug last year and with the qb problems he never really got going. He should be a good value next year.
2. Jerricho Cotchery WR- Cothcery was the main recipient to Coles shortfalls last year but with these two healthy working in tandem it should help them both.
3. Leon Washington RB- I would be surprised if he is not the starting back next year. He is a playmaker who might get taken out in short yardage but I think he has more value than Thomas Jones.
4. Thomas Jones RB- It seems Jones best years might be behind him but even if he is not the startrer he'll get a good number of carries and might be a better back with less carries per game.
5. Chris Baker TE- Baker was one bright spot from last year. Baker had an impressive year with 41 receptions, 409 yards and 3 touchdowns putting him only behind Coles and Cotchery statistically. One would think Baker would only improve upon these numbers for next year. For more info on the New York Jets and more fantasy football analysis.
